Project completion: 2020 | Location: Karimkunnam

Nestled in a peaceful village setting, the concept of this home is to utilize its privileged location to the best. As every project unfolds with new tests and strong context elements, the challenge lies in creating an architectural composition that keep up to the visual calmness of the place. An open plan, simple luxury, and spaces with an intimate glimpse into the vastness of nature beyond are the fundamental principles that shaped the design. The formal living room is planned to impart openness with strong ties to the vibrant environment using large glass windows and a stone wall. The stone replicates the natural elements of the place with rhythmic patterns that complement the white walls, wood floor, and ceiling. The core spaces, living, dining and family room dominate the plan and are closely held with a two way relationship to the outside. The private spaces such as the bedrooms and other utilities wing out from the core. A predominant presence of wood on the floor, ceiling, and cabinetry is a conscious choice of design that brings in warmth. The exterior illustration of roof cascades is reflected in the plan distinctively as spaces are separated into each zones, thus retaining the connection. The outdoors within reach from the inside is imagined to bring a surprise in every space planned within. A natural stream is transformed into an outdoor swimming pool which provides a visual impact and captures a well-defined view of the house and the surroundings.
